What is PMU?
Permanent Makeup (PMU) is a cosmetic tattoo technique that involves depositing pigment into the skin with a sterile needle. It is used to enhance personal features. All forms of PMU are listed below, including: microshading, microblading, nano brows, combination brows, etc.
What is Microshading?
Microshading (also known as powder brows, ombre brows) is a technique of micropigmentation. It can also be referred to as permanent makeup (PMU) or cosmetic tattoo. Powder brows result in full, yet soft brows. It looks as if the brows were filled in with powder or an eyebrow pencil.
What is Nano Brows?
Nano Brows mimic hair strokes. They are achieved with a hand held machine to create hyper-realistic eyebrows. This technique achieves a natural outcome.
What are Combination Brows?
Combination Brows are a hybrid of powder ombre brows with hair like strokes. It is a customized technique that caters to the clients specific needs.
How do I know which PMU service is for me?
Most clients are candidates for either service. Depending on each clients unique features and skin type, will determine which style will suit them best. You can book a FREE consultation to consult 1:1 with Kim on what method of PMU will best be for your brows.
What are Combination Brows?
Nano Brows are done with a handheld machine to create hairlike strokes on the skin. This ensures skin integrity and creates more natural, feathery effect.
Microblading uses a blade to create hair like strokes. Overtime the repeated incisions into the same spot can cause trauma and create scar tissue if done improperly.
Why Nano Brows and not Microblading?
Nano Brows are done with a handheld machine to create hairlike strokes on the skin. This ensures skin integrity and creates more natural, feathery effect.
Microblading uses a blade to create hair like strokes. Overtime the repeated incisions into the same spot can cause trauma and create scar tissue if done improperly.
How long does PMU last?
Results vary based on lifestyle, skin type, preference, etc. With the use of high quality pigments, PMU can last on average for 2-3 years. With that said, in 2 years it will not completely disappear. After a year you will notice that the pigment will fade and the lines may not be as defined, that is your first sign of needing a touch up.
What does the process look like?
When you come in we will first fill out paper work and discuss your ideal brow style, color, shape; as well as set realistic goals and expectations to create what you envision.
To begin, we will first assess your brows, noticing any muscle pulls or areas of asymmetry. Our goal when creating brows is to create balance and two beautiful symmetrical brows!
We will then begin by removing any excess hair around the brow and on the outline that we will be creating. Then, using a string method to map out your eyebrows, we will create a shape that best compliments your face and style. Prior to performing the procedure, we will ensure that the brows are where you want them.
What should I expect?
Right after the procedure your eyebrows will be red from skin irritation and sensitivity, this will subside a couples hours post appointment.
Your brows will look darker the first 5-10 days because they are going through the healing process. Your brows will heal for 10- 14 days (read more about what to expect during the healing process below).
It is also common to feel that your brows are structured and thicker the first 2 weeks.
It will take the full healing time for your brows to show their true color and shape.
How do I know the shape?
How do I know the color? I don't want it to fade pink, red, green, blue, black, purple....
These are all valid questions and concerns that you should have!!! Proper technique, high end products, knowledge, experience, and skill will ensure this does not happen. The Allure Stop has taken extensive trainings and has had hours of hands on experience to provide you with the most high end products and up to date technique to meet set beauty industry standards.
When do I get touch up?
Permanent makeup is a 2-step procedure.
After the initial session you wait 6-8 weeks of your brows being healed for a touch up. If you notice your brows have faded or they are loosing definition or if you also want to go darker, a touch up is optional.
does pmu hurt?
During the microshading outline process is the only time clients experience a pain level of 1-3 out of 10 that takes about 3 minutes to do. For the remainder of the time, a topical anesthetic is used to numb you. The gel is reapplied multiple times throughout the procedure so that you remain numb.
With nano brows, we do not use numbing. However it is a non invasive where you will experience slight discomfort.
what is the healing time and what does it look like?
Healing time is 10- 14 days.
It is important to keep the area worked on clean to prevent bacteria or infection. Do not touch the procedure area with your fingers. You will be provided with an aftercare kit at your appointment for the duration of your healing.
The healing process will go through several phases during the healing cycle. You may experience flaking, which looks like dry skin, until the brow heals.
